Free Serial Number Lookup For Guns

Old Salt Location: South Florida, or offshore GOM | Hi all, a question for the bolt action guys: I've stumbled onto an early 1960's (I think) Remi 700 ADL short action chambered in .308 and so now I'm thinking about doing the era appropriate VN sniper rifle thing. The basic question would be if this rifle is a suitable start. The serial number is 140xxx so I guess it is too early to be exactly in the M40 range... It is pretty much original and in good shape but the stock was butchered so I would have to take care of that - Silver Hill? While I would want the rifle to be pretty much correct I wouldn't get too hung up on every detail being 'as issued' so much as it being something that might conceivably have been put together and used in the Nam. This is new territory for me though so please let me know your thoughts on this and particularly on using this particular rifle. Thanks! Last edited by Majikani; January 27th, 2014 at 04:34 PM. |
Remington 700 Receiver Serial Number Lookup Number
I receive many questions about Remington serial number lookup page of Rem870.com blog. Yes, it will work with Remington 700 or any Remington shotgun or rifle which has letters on the left side, just forward of the receiver. The following serial number information is for Remingtion firearms manufactured after 1921 Remingtons manufactured after 1921 have a code located on the left side of the barrel near the frame that identifies the year and month of manufacture.
